Choose and Book: making the service a reality

ABSTRACT
Choose and Book is the mechanism for enabling patient choice at the point
of referral, and it allows patients to book initial hospital clinic
appointments at a place, time and date that suits them. The service is being
gradually introduced across England throughout 2005. Valuable experience
gained from the first implementations is being disseminated, and the wider
rollout is starting to gather pace.
