An ICT director’s personal view of an early implementation in England’s
National Programme for IT in the NHS
Foundation hospital ICT & EPR Director Andrew Haw describes his
choice of the most notable aspects to date of working with an NPfIT
local-service provider.
abstract
University Hospital Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust is an early
implementer of services procured by the National Programme for IT, and is
intending to convert to the new solution for its patient administration
system in February 2005. The Trust is in the North West and West Midlands
cluster and the local-service provider is CSC.
The article describes the personal views of the implementation project in
the Trust thus far, from the perspective of its Director of ICT, and it thus
applies to only one of the five clusters in the National Programme.
