A new way of accessing clinical information on the move

This paper explains how, by using current technologies, including biometrics, all healthcare staff can gain secure and quick access to patient information. The solution used in the Clinical Information on the Move project at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital NHS Trust (RNOH) can offer higher levels of efficiency to peripatetic staff who typically share access points to computerised information and can suffer from technological barriers to ease of access. This solution enabled the RNOH to move away from ‘where-you-are’ to ‘who-you-are’ access control.
