Electronic booking and directories of services: a systematic approach to
development
Simon McCusker, Terri Holcroft and Paul Hackett
share the knowledge gained in North Mersey Health Community’s preparations
for electronic appointment booking.
abstract
Electronic booking has profound implications for the mechanisms and
procedures used by NHS primary and secondary care trusts to book patients
into clinic appointment slots. The first ebookings in England will be made
this summer. A project carried out in a partnership between North Mersey
Health Community and IT Perspectives Ltd aimed to understand the
implications and begin to define some of the tasks necessary to achieve the
changes.
