abstract

The paper focuses on the goals and basic principles of the electronic patient-record project for the NN Burdenko Neurosurgical Institute, a treatment and research organisation in Moscow. The project’s main aims are to deliver information support for the three basic business processes of the Institute: daily activities of medical personnel; scientific research; and medical administration activities, the first of these having priority.

A special technology, MEDSET (modeling, engineering, deployment, support and evolution technology), was developed. It allows evolutionary development of an EPR system and step-by-step implementation transparently to the users. Basic features of MEDSET and its program platform MML*Web are described. Data on intensity of use of the EPR and plans for its future development are given.
