Have over 35 years of health informatics made Europe healthier?

This discussion is drawn from a keynote presentation given by public-health specialist Dr John Bryden at the European Federation for Medical Informatics 2003 Medical Informatics Europe Congress in St Malo, France in May.

abstract

Starting with the premise that the main goal of health informatics must be to improve the health of society, the author selects and considers uses of information technologies that illustrate progress in this field. He concludes that the use of computerised information and communications technologies has helped improve the health of Europeans.
