Preparing for healthcare and socialcare integration: some
current barriers to ICT-based sharing of information

abstract
Several information-management and communications strategies for
England in the last five years emphasise the importance of seamless
service delivery in healthcare and socialcare. Until adequate
funding has been identified, and key issues such as data protection
and patient consent have been tackled, healthcare and socialcare
organisations will be ill prepared to take on this complex task.
