abstract
A borough-wide ICT programme for Bexley’s local healthcare and
socialcare agenda has been initiated, following an evaluation of
both current local and national requirements and the history to date
of collaborative ICT implementations between public-service care
providers. Bexley Primary Care Trust, the London Borough of Bexley,
Oxleas NHS Trust and Queen Mary’s Sidcup NHS Trust have formed a
programme board and appointed a programme director to lead on the
community’s strategy for ICT implementations. Consultants from
Apira Limited are working with the group to set up the joint
programme. The rationale for this approach is described as well as
the aims and objectives of the community-wide group. An analysis of
the contribution of the National Strategic Programme for NHS IT to
each of the local programme components has given the group a clear
view of what they now need to initiate and manage at a local level.
