abstract
Given England’s plan to invest £2.3bn in national healthcare-IT
systems, how can one best square the need for centralised/standardised
policy with getting local support and use? Is it important to solicit
meaningful clinician input early and often and act upon it? Over many
years, some have felt that NHS informatics developments have suffered
from being under-utilised by their potential users. This article
investigates lessons to be learned about clinician involvement from
successful centrally directed nationwide (vs national) rollouts from
Denmark and New Zealand.
